  • Tales From The Trenches: Hacker Horror Stories
  • Slipping Past Prevention: An Intro to Antivirus Evasion

Day 1.0 Introduction

Kyle Hanslovan and John Hammond kick off our second annual hack_it event by going over our mission and covering some housekeeping items.

Download all Day 1.0 slides here.

Making the Malware: A Choose-Your-Own Adventure Exercise

In this interactive session, we put on our hacker hats and plan our own cyberattack! Get a hands-on look at tradecraft, C2 frameworks, post-exploitation tools and the activity taking place in today’s cybercrime markets.

Tales From The Trenches: Hacker Horror Stories

This session brings together members of the IT and small business communities for some quality knowledge-sharing to shine the spotlight on real events they have worked through, and to share important insights and wisdom gained along the way.

Slipping Past Prevention: An Intro to Antivirus Evasion

Watch as we craft a payload for offensive operations and refine it to evade detection by antivirus (AV) software. Along with live demonstrations, we also discuss signature vs. heuristic-based detection, how smart hackers can trick AV and much more.

Day 1.0 Wrap Up

As day 1.0 comes to a close, Kyle Hanslovan and John Hammond answer some attendee questions live and give a preview of what to expect during day 2.0.

Day 2.0 Introduction

Kyle Hanslovan and John Hammond kick off our second day of hack_it 2021.

Cooking up Cybercrime: You Choose the Recipe for Ransomware

We cook up some cybercrime in this session while our audience chooses the ingredients. Watch as we walk through different tradecraft, adversary tactics, techniques and procedures to help you get a better sense of the decisions today’s hackers are making.

Sea Stories & Shop Talk

In this fireside chat, we’re joined by members of the IT, MSP and SMB communities to discuss real events and the day-in-day-out activities that we can all learn from. We break down genuine advice, real-world lessons learned and some hard truths from everyone’s journey.

Under The Radar: Bypassing Antivirus

In this technical session, we develop a payload for command and control—and put it to the test against a series of modern antivirus (AV) programs. Along the way, we also discuss signature and heuristic based detection, and what clever tricks we can use to fly under the radar.

Day 2.0 Wrap Up

We close out our final day of hack_it 2021 with some key takeaways and exciting announcements about the next stage of our hack_it events!
